Belitung Island is a paradise destination in Indonesia. This part of the world is still a well-kept secret, largely untouched by mass tourism. The island has an idyllic setting 🏝️ that appeals to adults and children alike.
Hotels are well-positioned and blend beautifully into the landscape, but there’s less choice compared to other Indonesian islands like Bali.
Outside Indonesian holiday periods, you’ll probably be one of the few guests at the island’s hotels. You’ll get an authentic experience, real peace and quiet, and personalized attention.
For the best experience, I recommend booking your accommodation ahead of time since things can slow down during certain periods. Booking 24 to 48 hours minimum before arrival is recommended, this gives staff time to prepare properly for your arrival.
A quick confirmation message 💬 a few hours before ensures a warm welcome. Some travelers have arrived to find hotels closed. Staff need advance notice to prepare for your arrival and welcome you properly.
To find the best accommodations, check multiple sources. Many hotels and guesthouses only advertise on Instagram or Google Maps, so don’t check only on Booking.
The most effective approach is to research on different sites. Once you’ve decided, contact the property directly via WhatsApp to check availability and rates.
Like in many Asian countries, adjust your Western expectations. A view of paradise beach more than makes up for any minor comfort issues ☀️.
